So I never post here, well, hardly ever. But this is exciting costume related news! I have been accepted for a summer internship at Colonial Williamsburg in their dressmaking and millinery shop. This means six weeks in Virginia sewing and interpreting in costume at one of the busiest tourist sites in the country (not to mention the fact that I'll be there for Under the Red Coat, their big reenactment). Needless to say I'm rawther excited.
Other exciting things about this opportunity: Williamsburg also has a shoe making shop. I can finally develop a taste for boiled peanuts. They have English country dancing once a week in Williamsburg. Virg
Right, I'm still here, I'm still sewing but I didn't have a lot of time to sew or take photos over the school year and despite school being over I still haven't gotten round to it. I'm almost done a new pair of 18th century stays and I imagine I'll photograph and post a whole bunch of stuff as soon as I complete them.

OK, I made a muslin of the caftan coat this afternoon. It only took about 30 minutes to do since the pattern I drafted was just a "T" made from my measurements that I'd taken the other day.
