Steampunk Waistcoat - Front by Goldenspring Steampunk Waistcoat - Front by Goldenspring
A tailored double breasted vest in green herringbone tweed wool. This vest was inspired in part by a vest worn in the comic "Girl Genius" by Agatha Heterodyne but is not an attempt at recreation (I think my vest is significantly more interesting than Agatha's).

The pattern was altered from one I draped a few years ago. The collar was replaced, and the vest was lengthened. The vest is lined in Thai silk (I had a piece sitting around after, this is the third project this string it's turned up in actually) and the buttons are brass. There are single welt watch pockets on the front, it was only the second time I'd ever done welt pockets and i think they came out quite well.

After making it I realized that I could button back the double breasted lapels for a more militant look. I like how that looks even though it does mess somewhat with the lay of the collar.

Thanks! I had to do some research on how to draft the collar pattern but I used one of my vintage flat pattern texts and it came out just the way I wanted!
