I really like your illustrations!
However from what I have read, it seems it is a common misconception that garters were tied above the knee (most likely due to paintings were the lady/artist wanted to make things more provocative, or the artist simply had no idea since it was *gasp* in "unmentionable" territory). Below the knee makes more sense, since they'd be less likely to slip off!
